Ras Al Khaimah record-breaking New Year’s Eve fireworks 2020
RAS AL KHAIMAH – The skyline of Ras Al Khaimah’s Al Marjan island lit up in pyrotechnic multi-colours at the stroke of midnight on Wednesday (January 1) as the emirate rang in the new year with a bang. Following a 10-second LED countdown, the emirate delivered the grandest pyrotechnic show that broke two Guinness world records for the use of the most number of drones to launch fireworks, and for the longest firework waterfall. Watch the full coverage in high resolution here: A total of 173 drones were deployed to simultaneously launch fireworks from the sky, while more fireworks spanning 4,000 metres lit up the Ras Al Khaimah night to break Japan's record for longest firework waterfall.
The fireworks ushered in the New Year by creating a visual "2020" in the sky, followed by an elegant chandelier draped with a beautiful cascade of pyrotechnic sparks ending with the recreation of the monuments of Ras Al Khaimah, including that of Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in Ras Al Khaimah.
The pyrotechnic spectacle on Al Marjan Island lasted around 12 minutes. Expatmedia.net was able to capture the bedazzling show from the rooftop of Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah. Watch how the record-breaking fireworks display unfolded:
