RAK ruler grants boy’s request for mother's return to UAE
RAS AL KHAIMAH – The ruler of Ras Al Khaimah has granted a request from a 7-year-old British boy to bring his mother back to the UAE. Archie Appleyard had written a letter to Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi to appeal for his mother’s return. She had been stranded in the United Kingdom for 52 days due to coronavirus travel restrictions. "It has been 52 sleeps now that I have been apart from my mother," Appleyard wrote in his letter to Sheikh Saud. "I feel so sad because we have never been apart for this long and all I dream and wish for is my mummy's return," said Appleyard, a Grade 1 student at RAK Academy Al Hamra. To his delight, Sheikh Saud responded with a handwritten letter to Appleyard. The May 12 letter said: Dear Archie Thank you for your letter. I enjoyed reading it. I remember meeting you and having a great day with you and your classmates. I understand you miss your mom very much and I am very proud of you for being a brave boy. I hope bringing her home will make you smile. Yours sincerely, Saud bin Saar Al Qasimi
On Instagram, Sheikh Saud said he was pleased to respond to the British boy’s letter.
"We worked to help reunite him with his mother at the earliest opportunity, highlighting on Zayed Humanitarian Day that the UAE will always be a beacon of humanity in this world," Sheikh Saud said.
