Ras Al Khaimah sentences Arab woman who stole Mercedes Benz

A court in Ras Al Khaimah has sentenced a woman to jail for stealing a Mercedes Benz worth Dh50,000. According to records, the woman had contacted the Dubai-based seller of the Mercedes Benz and agreed to buy the car for Dh50,000. The car owner drove to Ras Al Khaimah to meet the woman and deliver the car. She was with her husband when they met him at a coffee shop. The woman showed the car owner a message that she transferred money from her bank account as payment, claiming that it will reflect in the man’s bank account within three hours. Meanwhile, she took the car key and said she will check the car, leaving her husband with the car seller. After a while, the husband also left to go to the restroom but never returned. The car seller then realised that the couple had stolen his car. He also tried calling them, but their mobile phones had already been switched off. He filed a report at the police station after he did not receive money in his bank account. The case was referred to the Ras Al Khaimah court. The court sentenced the woman in absentia to six months in jail. ICA/Expat Media
