Ras Al Khaimah authorities announce new traffic campaign to ensure student safety

The Ras Al Khaimah Police Department has finalized a comprehensive traffic plan in collaboration with strategic partners to welcome students back for the new academic year. The plan's goal is to have zero traffic accidents. Therefore they're launching their fourth statewide traffic awareness campaign with the motto 'Traffic Safety for School Students.' It will coincide with the beginning of the new academic year and the last three months. Brigadier Ahmed Saeed Al Naqbi stressed the significance of "educational awareness through concerted efforts must be made to preserve the security and safety of students." To control traffic and make way for school buses, the police have devised a strategy to increase patrols at intersections and on internal and external routes throughout the emirate. The authorities will deploy patrols around schools to prevent student accidents and ensure safe pedestrian crossings. The patrols aim to accomplish the goals of the Ministry of the Interior's plan to improve school security. To ensure the safe passage of students, Brigadier General Al-Naqbi advised all drivers to commit to entirely stopping cars before stopping buses at a distance of no less than five meters to ensure the safe passage of students. He mentioned that Federal Law No. 90 on Traffic would be enforced against bus drivers who violate rules while transporting students. Drivers shall be subject to Article No. 91 if they pass a stopped school bus during the boarding or disembarking of students. Driving instructors, students, school administrators, and parents are all targets of Al Naqbi's traffic safety awareness program, which he said will help change people's attitudes and actions on the road. The goal is to familiarise them with traffic laws and regulations so that we may provide the highest standards of traffic safety to our children when they go to school and return home.
