Razor blade in Dubai supermarket biryani shocks man

DUBAI - A ready-made meal of biryani that a man bought from a supermarket in Dubai contained a shocking "ingredient": a razor blade. Tajikistan national Tohir Jon, 24, said he bought the packed meal from the Allday minimart in Dubai Design District and had already eaten a spoonful when he noticed a sliver of metal in the food. “I thought it was a leaf or something," Jon said, adding that the discovery was "quite upsetting" and left him "shocked". He showed the razor blade to a colleague seated next to him, who then called the police. They were told to report the incident to the Dubai Municipality. An investigation into the incident is underway, and Allday minimart has removed all food supplied by Dubai-based Big Ben catering company from its 64 stores nationwide. Jon said he also called the catering company, Big Ben, who told him to "not make a big deal" out of the issue. Big Ben catering did not respond to a media request for comment. Mohammed Thavath, the general manager of human resources and logistics at Allday, said the company has withdrawn all food from the catering company as a precaution.
