Human trafficking victims, witnesses urged to seek Dubai Police help

  DUBAI - The Dubai Police has urged victims of human trafficking in the emirate to seek police help as soon as possible and to report the crime. The call comes after news that the Dubai Police rescued a teen who was forced to work as a prostitute in Dubai. In reporting human traffickers, the Dubai Police said that the public can call toll-free number 8007283 or emergency number 999, or email htccc@dubaipolice.gov.ae. The police also urged witnesses to give information that can help identify victims of human trafficking in the emirate, promising that the informaton they share "will be handled confidentially". The UAE law describes human trafficking "sexual exploitation, engaging others in prostitution, servitude, forced labour, organ trafficking, coerced services, enslavement, mendicancy and quasi-slavery practices". The punishment for human trafficking is a minimum of five years' imprisonment and a Dh100,000 fines.
