Residents told to take caution after 'botched kidnapping' near Dubai school

DUBAI - A private school in Dubai has sent a warning to parents and students to be extra careful after an alleged botched kidnapping of a student last week. An unidentified man had allegedly tried to lure a grade 4 student by trying to offer the boy sweets, ARN News reported. According to the report, the man told the boy that he knew his father, offered him sweets and then asked him to get inside his car outside the Gems Dubai American Academy in Al Barsha. The boy reportedly ignored the man and went inside the school to report the incident. The suspect was described as "dark-skinned, wearing a black baseball cap" and "driving a black vehicle". The incident came to light after the nearby American School of Dubai sent a message to parents on Wednesday. "The incident outside one of our schools was brought to our immediate attention and we confirm that all our students are safe. The matter is now being investigated by the authorities," said a representative for Gems Education.
