Restaurant review: Joe’s Backyard at Dubai Festival City
DUBAI – On the 19th floor of the Holiday Inn at Dubai Festival City sits Dubai’s not-so-secret hub for barbecue lovers: Joe’s Backyard. There is a modern clubhouse feel as you step inside the restaurant, with panoramic windows on both sides offering stunning views of the Dubai skyline. When Expatmedia.net was invited to try their Sunday Roast, we just had to enjoy it with a table at the lovely outdoor area that offered views of the Burj Khalifa and the buildings in Downtown Dubai. What followed next was Sunday roast heaven, starting with a serving of three barbecue brisket sliders with a side of citrus slaw. I loved the bite-sized sliders, with a juicy patty that was a big winner.We downed the sliders with a big glass of slightly sweet and fruity drink that was probably one of the best I have tasted in Dubai. The bonus? Our server made sure our drinks were free-flowing throughout our stay.View this post on Instagram
Then our main dish was served: roasted loin of beef with a side of roasted vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. We had to stop talking and start slicing. The beef loin was a bit on the dry side, so it was a slight letdown for me. Desert was a lava cake topped with vanilla ice cream and caramel that we almost wanted to take home. Sunday Roast at Joe’s Backyard is from 2pm to 5pm on Sundays, but the ambiance and that food went so well together we stayed until past 6pm to watch the sunset.
