The Asian Food Trip Ajman in Metro Manila Supermarket, Ajman. EXPAT MEDIA
If you’re in Ajman and can’t decide between street food, Japanese food, Filipino, Malaysian, Thai, coffee or just bubble tea, there’s actually a place where you can put analysis paralysis aside and score all those cravings in one place.
This is how we found Asian Food Trip, tucked inside Metro Manila Supermarket Ajman on Karama Street. This might be the most underrated food hall in the UAE and we just love the cool vibe and idea of a food court that serves all your Asian cravings in one place. Bonus: you can take over the karaoke to sing for the crowd in between bites and pick up your free copy of the Expat Media Special Edition magazine while there!
Now, let's talk food. First stop: Agemono Express for assorted sushi. From California maki to tuna rolls, every bite was fresh, flavorful, and shockingly affordable. Then we hit up the Filipino street food counter for classic chicken isaw on a stick, and of course, a hearty bowl of bulalo that took us straight to Tagaytay.
Next, our inner sweet tooth led us to Thai Express for mango sticky rice, which hit that perfect combo of creamy, chewy, and sweet. It isn’t as sweet as Philippine mango so we give it an 8/10. But the MVP of our trip? Ma La Tang—a Malaysian-style custom hotpot concept where you pick your ingredients and pay just Dh29 per 500 grams. From the broth to the family-sized serving, this was a 10/10.
Don’t leave without checking Agemono Café—for croffles, cakes, and seriously good coffee. You’ll also find Filipino-made brands on display here, like Bawangong (plant-based bagoong), Affordacup cheese bread, and Sukarap ready-to-eat food jars.
