Restaurant review: Kai Enzo, Dubai’s newest rooftop hangout

“Wait until you see the glass ceiling open up, it’s an entirely different indoor-outdoor experience,” the waiter at Kai Enzo tells us. We are at Dubai’s newest rooftop restaurant in Hyatt Centric Jumeirah to try out Chef Izu Ani latest culinary venture with a view overlooking La Mer and Downtown Dubai’s skyline beyond. Kai Enzo, which translates to “Ocean King”, took us on a wave of sophistication in its simplicity: from its contemporary interiors to its flavourful Japanese dishes with Western influences. The prices are a bit on the expensive side, but definitely worth the high-end dishes and experience. We started with their light potato crisps with tuna and olive oil mousse, followed by their shashimi moriawase, the perfect art in a bowl consisting of five types of incredibly fresh sashimi, including melt-in-your-mouth slices of salmon and Hokkaido scallops. This went well with their best-selling Tokyo Pearl, a light tropical drink. For our mains, we couldn't miss Japan’s luxurious import: wagyu beef ribeye topped with grilled maitake mushrooms. The slices of wagyu were so rich, we couldn’t eat more than a few bites. We took that as our cue to take in the restaurant’s  Zen-like ambience. As it hit past 10pm, the in-house DJ provided some very cool beats. Then it was time for dessert: four mini slices of decadent chocolate mochi covered with cocoa powder. Another delight to sink our teeth into. With the luxurious dining experience complete, we made a mental note to return when the weather was cool enough for their glass ceiling to open to the stars.

Don't miss it
