Former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte and his two sons Sebastian “Baste” and Paolo will run for the Senate in the 2025 elections, with Baste to seek the presidency in 2018, Vice President Sara Duterte said on Tuesday (June 25). In an interview in Cagayan de Oro, Sara said her father and brothers are eyeing to win Senate seats in next year’s midterm elections. “Tatlo ang Duterte next year (There will be three Dutertes next year)… yes, confirmed ‘yan,” she added. She added that her mother wished for Sara’s younger brother, Baste, to run for president in 2028, and also wanted her to return to Davao. She did not confirm if she will seek a mayoral post after her term as Vice President ends in 2028. Sara’s statement came after she announced last week her resignation from the Cabinet of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and key posts in the Department of Education and a national task force for anti-insurgency.
