Public parking in Dubai. ARCHIVE
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced free public parking across all zones in Dubai on January 1 to celebrate the New Year’s holiday. However, multi-storey parking facilities will remain paid, and regular parking fees will resume at 8am on January 2. The RTA is also urging motorists attending New Year’s Eve celebrations to park in designated locations to avoid traffic disruptions and road closures near popular event zones such as Burj Khalifa. Suggested parking areas include Jebel Ali, Etisalat by e&, Centrepoint, and Jumeirah Golf Estates. Alternative parking facilities, including Al Wasl Club, Al Kifaf, and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, will also be open to accommodate visitors. “Motorists should avoid parking on major highways like Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road, as strict enforcement will be in place,” the RTA stated. Public transport options will also see extended operations, including continuous metro and tram services on New Year’s Eve. This aims to alleviate congestion and ensure safe commutes for celebrants.
