Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has successfully raised an impressive Dh69.137 million at its 116th open auction of premium vehicle license plates. The event on Sunday (October 13) showcased 90 exclusive number plates, ranging from two to five digits, and attracted significant attention from buyers eager to secure a personalized touch for their vehicles. The auction featured plates bearing letters from across the alphabet, including the sought-after AA, L, N, P, Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z series. The crown jewel of the auction, plate number AA17, commanded the highest bid, fetching an astonishing Dh8.02 million. Other notable sales included plate Y1000, sold for Dh4.55 million, V96 for Dh4.1 million, and AA333 for Dh3.01 million. In a statement following the auction, an RTA official highlighted the growing interest in unique number plates. "These premium plates offer individuals the opportunity to express their personal style, celebrate milestones, or carry a symbol of their success," said the spokesperson. "Our auctions have consistently drawn a diverse group of participants, from car enthusiasts to businesspeople and collectors, all seeking something distinctive."
