Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finished several traffic improvements in Oud Metha as part of its 2024 Quick Traffic Solutions Plan. The project improved entry and exit points from Umm Hurair Street to Oud Metha by adding 317-meter deceleration and acceleration lanes to better handle incoming and outgoing traffic. The service road exit on Umm Hurair Street was also widened from two to three lanes over a 100-meter stretch, boosting road capacity by 50% and cutting travel time by 40%. These enhancements also include road lighting to support smoother traffic flow. "This area hosts a range of residential, commercial, medical, social, cultural, and sports facilities, and these measures will contribute to reducing accidents and ensuring the highest safety standards,” Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, said. Al Shehhi added that Street No. 2 toward the Umm Hurair Roundabout was expanded to ease traffic queues, with surface improvements and an increase in turning lanes from two to three. There are also 27 new parking spaces to better serve motorists, especially those visiting commercial spots. These upgrades aim to improve Dubai’s road network, supporting RTA’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure for the city’s growth and rising population. FLE/Expat Media
