Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reduced the fare for its on-demand bus service in Business Bay from Dh5 to Dh2 per passenger. This move aims to encourage greater adoption of the Bus Pooling initiative, which offers flexible and affordable public transport options. The on-demand service allows passengers to book rides using smart apps like Dubai Bus On-Demand, Citylink Shuttle, DrivenBus, and Fluxx Daily. These apps enable users to select pick-up and drop-off points, ensuring routes are tailored to their needs. Each operator manages a fleet of 20 minibuses with seating capacities ranging from 13 to 30 passengers. Payments are processed seamlessly through the app, simplifying the travel experience for users. An RTA official explained, “This initiative reflects our commitment to providing sustainable and affordable public transportation solutions, meeting the diverse needs of Dubai’s residents and visitors.” The Bus Pooling service also reduces road congestion and supports Dubai’s vision for a greener, more connected city. Since its launch, the service has gained traction, particularly among professionals and residents in Business Bay, one of Dubai’s busiest commercial hubs. Users have lauded the service for its affordability and convenience. Sarah Ahmed, a frequent commuter, shared, “At just Dh2, this is a game-changer for daily commutes. It’s efficient, reliable, and budget-friendly.” Interested passengers can download the respective apps to access the service and explore routes and schedules tailored to their needs. ICA/Expat Media
