RTA records 2.1 million passengers using public transport on New Year’s Eve

The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) stated that 2,166,821 people used public transportation and taxis on New Year's Eve 2023. The amount represents a 33% increase over last year's 1,632,552 passengers. The Metro had 958,161 riders (compared to 640,175 last year); the Tram had 49,855 riders (compared to 34,672 last year), and public buses had 395,930 riders (compared to 331,837 last year). Marine transport transported 77,844 riders (up from 50,398 last year), E-Hailer had 125,651 riders (up from 96,937 last year), Taxis had 558,079 riders (up from 476,831 last year), and shared mobility had 1,301 riders (compared to 1,011 last year). Lifting public transportation commuters to New Year's Eve celebration zones went off without a hitch due to a detailed plan devised by RTA. The metro service was maintained around the clock, and more than 200 buses were deployed to transport riders from celebration places to the event's authorized vehicle parking areas. BKM/ Expat Media
