Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the launch of the Sketch Battle, a live design competition that challenges artists to reimagine the driverless bus of the future. The event will take place on September 25 at Za’abeel Hall 6 of Dubai World Trade Centre, as part of the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025. Participants will have from 10am to 1pm to create bold, futuristic sketches of an autonomous bus in front of an expert judging panel. The competition is open to UAE nationals and expatriates of all ages, including automobile and product designers, graphic designers, and sketch artists. The top prize winner will receive Dh10,000, while the runner-up will take home Dh5,000, for a total of Dh15,000 in cash prizes. Those interested must register by September 12 via the Dubai World Congress website and submit a PDF portfolio (up to 5MB) or a link to their work for shortlisting. Shortlisted participants must bring their own sketching materials. While A3 paper will be provided, the use of digital devices is strictly prohibited.
