Rudy Baldwin is once again at the center of public debate after netizens linked her recent predictions to the deaths of two Philippine entertainment icons—National Artist for Film Nora Aunor and Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales. Nora Aunor, widely revered as the country’s “Superstar,” passed away on Wednesday (April 16), at the age of 71. Just four days earlier, the Philippines mourned the loss of Pilita Corrales, who died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 85. The back-to-back passing of the two veterans has led netizens to revisit Baldwin’s March 10 Facebook post, where she wrote that “two veteran artists and two well-known singers” would die this year. The post has since gone viral with nearly 7,000 shares and over 36,000 reactions. Some followers were quick to point out the eerie timing. “Yes, I read this before,” commented Facebook user Cyrus Efreim. Another, Jervin Balona, wrote, “I’m still in shock over the news.” However, not everyone is convinced. Critics dismissed the predictions as vague and opportunistic. “Whenever someone famous dies, she claims it as her vision,” commented Daru Balanag. Dodoy Zaid added in Filipino, “Of course, Pilita and Nora were already old. They were bound to pass away.” Baldwin’s forecasts have long stirred controversy, especially when she hints at the identities of public figures involved in tragic events. In January, Baldwin hinted at sexual abuse involving a petite young actress whose name starts with “M.” She claimed, “It will be a miracle if she survives,” and noted the actress had recently been involved in a cheating scandal. Although she did not name anyone, online speculations quickly tied her statement to actress Maris Racal, who earlier made headlines over a cheating controversy with actor Anthony Jennings. Racal issued a public apology at the time, calling it “one of the darkest moments of my life.” In the same interview with TV host Korina Sanchez on Rated K, Baldwin also predicted the death of a “sexy, beautiful” vlogger-actress with mixed-race family ties due to cancer—another vague claim that netizens connected to popular influencer Ivana Alawi. “She had a health issue that was addressed, but cancer later developed. Despite her wealth, the illness becomes untreatable. There’s nothing more beyond this,” Baldwin said in Filipino. While Baldwin’s followers praise her for making accurate predictions in the past, many skeptics criticize her approach, especially when it involves hinting at real people. “These are vague, fear-inducing statements with no factual basis,” one netizen commented. Another questioned the ethical implications: “How ethical is it to name or hint at specific individuals? These public statements can cause undue anxiety.” Over the years, Baldwin has gained fame—and notoriety—for her apocalyptic visions ranging from celebrity controversies to natural disasters. Her latest predictions reportedly include global health emergencies and catastrophic events set to unfold in 2025.
