Actor-singer Sam Milby has finally broken his silence on his highly publicized breakup with Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, admitting that the experience has been “really rough.” Appearing on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Monday (March 3), Milby became emotional when asked about his split from Gray. The actor was on the GMA-7 show to promote his new film, Everything About My Wife, but the conversation quickly shifted to his personal life. During the interview, Boy Abunda asked Milby how he typically handles breakups, given that he has had high-profile relationships with actress-TV host Anne Curtis, model-TV host Mari Jasmine, and a past mutual understanding with Toni Gonzaga. “Not well. I think every breakup is a different situation,” Milby admitted. “If you were the one who got hurt or if you were the reason for the breakup, it depends on the situation. But I think any breakup is not easy,” he added. Abunda then addressed the elephant in the room, directly asking about his recent split with Gray. “The whole country knows that you and Catriona Gray have broken up. How did it affect you? How did you handle the breakup?" He continued, “It was a fairytale relationship, as far as we were concerned. The queen had found her prince, and they were engaged. One morning, we woke up to find out that the engagement had been broken. We were distraught. How did you handle that?” Milby struggled to answer, repeating his earlier statement: “Honestly, not well. And like I said, any breakup is not easy,” he said in Filipino. The actor admitted that discussing the breakup was difficult. “It’s hard to talk about our breakup. It’s something I didn’t want to talk about,” he confessed. The A Family Affair star also mentioned his past interview with ABS-CBN journalist MJ Felipe, saying he only agreed to it to clear certain rumors. “I did an interview with MJ Felipe, which everyone knows about, and it was mainly to clear the issue,” he said in Filipino. While Milby refrained from delving into the specifics of the breakup, his demeanor suggested that he was still processing the emotional toll of the split. The engagement between Milby and Gray had long been admired by fans, who were left in shock when news of their separation broke. Neither Milby nor Gray has publicly disclosed the reason for their breakup, and both have maintained a level of privacy regarding their personal lives. Despite the pain, Milby appears focused on his career, with his upcoming film serving as a professional milestone amid personal struggles. As the interview concluded, Milby expressed gratitude for the support he has received but remained guarded about further details. “I appreciate everyone’s concern, but for now, I just want to focus on work and moving forward,” he said. Gray, for her part, has yet to make a public statement about the breakup.
