Samsung Galaxy S9 vs iPhone X: how they compare

  DUBAI - Samsung's Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are coming out on March 16 in the UAE to become the latest entrants to the smartphone market, but how do they compare to Apple's latest iPhone X? Let's take a look at how they compare.

Like the iPhone X, the S9 Plus comes with two cameras with a 12 megapixel resolution: a wide-angle, and a telephoto. The big difference may come with low-light performance. The S9 has sharper photos taken in low-lighting conditions.

Screen and design

The S9 Plus uses a 6.2-inch display compared to the regular S9’s 5.8-inch offering. The large and small variants weigh 189 grams and 163 grams respectively. By comparison, the iPhone X weighs 174 grams, but does not have the S9's uninterrupted rectangle screen.

Features and security

The S9 has removable SD memory, with a 64GB built in. It also supports Micro SD cards with up to 400GB of additional capacity. The iPhone X has up to 256GB of internal storage but after that you'll need to rely on cloud-based file-hosting for extra memory.

Animated emojis

Apple’s animated emojis uses the front-facing camera to let users animate facial features of a unicorn and more by moving their own face. Samsung is introducing a similar feature with the S9, but lets users create an avatar of themselves that can be animated or shared as videos or GIFs via email or SMS.
