On September 8, Saturn will be at its closest point to Earth this year, giving us a clear view of its rings and moons. This event called 'opposition,' happens when the sunlight fully reflects off Saturn and back to Earth, making the planet appear brighter and more visible in the sky. While the naked eye can observe the celestial event, a telescope is needed to view Saturn’s rings and moons. Dubai Astronomy Group (DAG) will host a paid event in Dubai’s Al Lisaili Desert, where attendees can observe Saturn through telescopes. Just last month, three spectacular celestial events brightened the UAE's night sky. On August 19, a ‘blue’ supermoon appeared. Mars and Jupiter also aligned closely on August 15, and the Perseid meteor shower peaked with hundreds of shooting stars on August 12. UAE also got a glimpse of asteroid 2024 RW1 on September 5, an hour before it landed in the Philippines.
