Saudi Arabia: 2 astronauts to fly to ISS on Elon Musk's SpaceX capsule

Saudi Arabia plans to send two men into space on board Elon Musk's SpaceX spacecraft, joining the growing list of Gulf countries fortifying ties with private U.S. space companies. The arrangement was negotiated privately early this year with Houston's Axiom Space, which organizes and handles private journeys to space aboard American spacecraft for researchers and tourists, according to the sources, who requested anonymity to discuss the mission's crew before it was formally announced. The sources claim that two Saudi astronauts will travel to the space station on SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule at the beginning of next year for a weeklong stay. The Saudis would be the first citizens of their nation to travel to space in a personal spacecraft. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which has been conducting human spaceflight for many years, is aggressively concentrating on bringing people back to the moon.
