  RIYADH – Police have held a woman featured in a video posted on social media wearing "offensive clothing" while walking around a historic fort in Najd province over the weekend. Social media users have identified the woman as "Khulood the model" but Saudi police have not released her name. According to a statement from Riyadh police, the woman claimed that the video, which went viral, "was published in an account attributed to her without her knowledge." Her case, the statement added, has been referred to the general prosecution department in Riyadh. The video showed the woman, dressed in a miniskirt and black crop top, walking around a fort at Ushayqir Heritage Village in Najd province, located 155 kilometers or 96 miles north of the Saudi Arabian capital. Media reports earlier said Najd "is one of the most conservative regions in Saudi Arabia, where the founder of Wahhabism – the austere form of Sunni Islam that is practiced by the Saudi royal family and religious establishment – was born in the late 18th century." The video was first posted on Snapchat and then shared on Twitter. The clip sparked outrage in ultra-conservative Saudi Arabia, which has a strict dress code. Women in Saudi Arabia must wear a loose-fitting, full-length robe called abayas and a headscarf. Khulood's video was shared on Twitter where a debate raged about her act. While some said she should be punished, others said she should be allowed to wear anything she wants.
