The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has denied any such proposal for the time being, putting an end to media speculation about a change in the weekend. Before releasing any article, the ministry has encouraged media outlets to obtain accurate information. There has been speculation that the Kingdom would transition to a four-day week. Saudi Minister of Human Resources Ahmed Al Rajhi, on the other hand, has stated that while the kingdom is interested in establishing work hours and days, it is also interested in attracting investors and creating jobs. In June 2013, Saudi Arabia switched from a Thursday-Friday weekend to a Friday-Saturday weekend. The UAE government has implemented a new weekly work schedule from January 1, 2022. Employees will work four and a half days a week under the new legislation. The UAE is the first country in the world to implement a national working week that is shorter than the international standard of five days. Saturday and Sunday are vacations weekends, with Friday being a half-day. In Spain, Iceland, the United States, and Canada, similar experiments have taken place. In August, Australia and New Zealand will begin. Even in the United Kingdom, some businesses are considering implementing a four-day workweek. KMB/Expat Media
