Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior has issued a strong warning to sponsors of expatriates, stating that failure to report visa overstayers will result in severe penalties. The penalties include a fine of up to SR50,000 (approximately $13,300), up to six months in jail, and, if the violator is a foreign national, deportation. Authorities reiterated the importance of adhering to visa regulations, especially in light of recent Hajj and Umrah seasons. They reminded all sponsors to comply with the country’s laws and to notify officials promptly if a visa holder has overstayed. The Ministry previously issued a similar reminder to expatriates themselves, cautioning that overstaying entry visas could also lead to fines, imprisonment, and deportation.
