FIFA has officially announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, marking a historic milestone for the kingdom as it continues its rapid transformation under Vision 2030. The tournament will feature 48 nations competing across five host cities: Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM. The centerpiece will be the new King Salman International Stadium in Riyadh, which will host the opening match and final. Saudi Arabia has promised to deliver “a tournament of a lifetime”, with 15 state-of-the art stadiums and 10 FIFA Fan Festival sites, including a 100,000sqm site at King Salman Park. Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sport, described the announcement as a “historic moment.” He added, “This is a dream come true for our people and a testament to our progress.” The Saudi bid, titled “Growing. Together,” highlights Saudi Arabia’s ambitions to deliver a compact and seamless tournament experience. Fans will benefit from short travel times between host cities and streamlined immigration processes. “We promise to put on a tournament of a lifetime that leaves a lasting positive impact for the future of football, for players, and for fans,” said Yasser Al Misehal, President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation, adding, “Football lives in our hearts, and we’re ready to welcome the world.” ICA/Expat Media
