Saudi Arabia launches a new temporary work visa

Saudi Arabia has launched a new temporary work visa that is valid for three months, according to reports on Wednesday (April 12). The temporary work visa will be issued immediately through the Qiwa platform, and allows holders to work for three months from the date they arrive in Saudi Arabia. It will allow foreigners to work without the need to issue a work permit and residency. The visa can also be extended for three more months. Applicants will need to log on to the Qiwa platform and choose “temporary work visa service” under the e-services category. Applications must be submitted by the business owner or a commissioner on Qiwa business. The temporary work visa will be issued electronically but applications need to be completed with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Enterprises applying for the visa must be active and hold a valid commercial registration. They must also not have any expired work permit and must have sufficient credit in their Absher account. Visas can be rejected by the Ministry of Interior. If a visa is cancelled, government fees will be refunded and credited to the enterprise account. There will be no refund 30 days after a temporary work visa is issued. ICA/Expat Media
