Got a phone call or message from the Ministry of Interior asking for your personal data and OTP? It is a scam, the ministry warned. In a statement, the Ministry of Interior warned that scammers posing as government workers target unsuspecting victims. They are “claiming to update the user’s personal data in the Ministry of Interior’s system and requesting to provide them the information contained in a text message (OTP),” according to the Ministry of Interior. The ministry confirmed that authorities “do not ask the public to update their data via text message or calls”, and advised the public to deal with suspicious text messages with caution.
