What scares 62% in UAE when they use the internet?

  DUBAI - What is it that worries internet users in the UAE more than any other area of their online lives? Following account hacking, password-stealing malware is what scares UAE residents the most, with 62 percent saying this is their most feared cyberthreat. This was revealed in a latest survey by Kaspersky Lab, which also showed that 63 of respondents in the UAE are concerned about account hacking, with 58 percent worried about risks to accounts with financial information. When asked about the type of data that could be accessed by cybercriminals, 48 percent of users are also most concerned about their passwords. Even private photos and videos are less important, with only 38 percent of respondents worried about these. This concern is not unfounded: according to the same survey, 25 percent of users, experienced attempts by cybercriminals to hack their accounts during a 12-month period. "User behavior is understandable – nowadays most of us have dozens of different accounts: email, social networking, banking, gaming, messaging and much more. Kharchenko advises using apps designed to generate strong passwords that are different for different services, store them securely, synchronise them on various devices and automatically enter them in forms on websites.
