House bill aims to establish a scholarship for OFW dependents SUPPLIED

A proposal presented in the House of Representatives aims to establish a scholarship program intended for the family members of land-based and sea-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who have passed away or sustained disabilities while working abroad. Sandro Gonzalez, a member of the Marino party list, introduced House Bill 8490. A dependent is described in the bill as "the legitimate, legitimated or legally adopted child of an OFW who is not married and is not gainfully employed." Under the proposed measure, a dependent will be qualified to pursue an educational course or training primarily in the field of science and technology.
