School fight in Dubai under investigation

DUBAI - The Ministry of Education is investigating an incident where a school boy punched his female schoolmate in the face using a coin between his fingers as a makeshift brass knuckles. The attack by the Emirati first grader left the girl with a deep cut above her lip that required stitches at a hospital. School administrators said the incident happened on Wednesday. The boy reportedly threatened the 4th grader before hitting her in the face during break. The boy had been bullied by his schoolmates, said Mouza Al Shoumy, deputy head of Emirates Child Protection Association. Urging students and parents to "try to lend a hand and help this child", Al Shoumy said the boy had been verbally abused and called "the monster" by his schoolmates. “The child is a victim himself,” she said.
