DUBAI – A scorned lover is on trial for allegedly stabbing a 27-year-old Kenyan woman dead in her office in Dubai. The suspect, identified as Watson M.N., confessed to police about the crime. He was also accused of starting a fire inside her office in Silicon Oasis. According to police records, the man brought the woman to the UAE in 2014 and the two had been living together in Sharjah before she left him following an argument early this year. The woman was an accountant for a marketing company in Silicon Oasis. On the day of the incident, the man allegedly stormed into the woman's office and set some clothes he was carrying on fire. "He threw the burning clothes to the floor. All of us started screaming and then he took out a baseball bat," one of the employees testified in court. The man allegedly hit one of the women and then his ex-lover with the bat, and then stabbed her in the neck before fleeing the scene. Police launched an investigation into the incident and later tracked down the suspect in Sharjah, where he was arrested. During interrogation, he told police that he planned to kill his ex-lover using the bat and then set her on fire. "I borrowed money from many sources to please her.
