Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the opening of nominations for the second edition of the Great Arab Minds Awards. Dubbed the "Arab Nobel Prize," this prestigious award celebrates exceptional contributions to science, culture, and arts within the Arab world. The second edition of the awards will honor six winners, with each recipient receiving Dh1 million. The total prize pool stands at Dh6 million. The awards span six categories: medicine, engineering and technology, economics, natural sciences, architecture and design, and literature and arts. Nominations are open until October 31 and individuals as well as institutions are encouraged to submit their entries. Click here to nominate This initiative, launched by Sheikh Mohammed a year ago with a Dh100 million budget, aims to recognize Arab achievements and restore pride in the region's intellectual and cultural heritage. “The Great Arab Minds awards are a seed planted today for the future,” Sheikh Mohammed stated, emphasizing the goal of encouraging Arab people to shape their own destinies. The judging process involves a rigorous evaluation of the nominees' achievements, supported by comprehensive criteria such as patents, publications, books, research, and professional accomplishments. The final phase of the competition will involve a competitive round to select the winners. Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Great Arab Minds Committee, reiterated that the award is designed to reinvigorate Arab contributions to global scientific and cultural advancements.
