‘Secret’ Abu Dhabi park undergoes major revamp

  DUBAI – A walled park in Abu Dhabi is undergoing major transformation to become a major “urban oasis” in the capital. When it is reopened late this year, the Khalidiya Ladies Park will be rebranded as Sheikha Fatima Park with multiple zones for retail and food outlets, and recreational areas. Reconstruction of the 46,000-square-metre park is currently underway. The multi-use park will have an adventure zone, interactive educational area and designated spaces for women and children. Walid El Hindi, CEO of park developer Imkan, said urban green spaces have many benefits to residents of Abu Dhabi. “We strive to encourage people to engage with and enjoy outdoor settings - it’s all about promoting mental, physical and spiritual health equity,” El Hindi said.
