Skyscraper has the fastest double-deck elevator, highest glass-bottom observation deck

  DUBAI - The recently-opened Lotte World Tower in Seoul is not only the tallest building in South Korea, it owns two world records. It has the highest glass-bottom observation deck at 1,568 feet and the tallest and fastest double-deck elevator that goes from the basement to the 121st floor in one minute or at a speed of 10 meters per second. Prior to the opening of the Lotte World Tower last April 2, the Shanghai Tower's lifts, which run at 20.5 meters per second, were the world's fastest. The records were conferred by the Guinness World Records to the building owner Lotte World Co. Ltd. and to Otis Elevator Company of the US, which installed the double-deck lift. Construction of the Lotte World Tower took six years. At 1,820 feet (555 meters), it is the fifth tallest structure in the world. It has shopping complexes, offices, and even a "seven star" hotel in the lower floors. From the top of the skyscraper, visitors are greeted by a view of the entire city of Seoul and the mountains in the distance. The double-deck elevator, on the other hand, carries passengers to separate floors at the same time. Aside from the Lotte World Tower, the Canton Tower in Guangzhou; the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur; the Eiffel Tower in Paris; and the Burj Khalifa in Dubai have such type of technology. Each elevator cabin can accommodate a maximum of 52 persons. There are 15 OLED displays inside each cabin that show a virtual tour of the entire city of Seoul in one minute.
