Since 2022, Sharjah City Municipality has imposed fees on 2,440 parking lots. According to Hamed Al Qaed, Director of the Municipality's Public Parking Department, the total number of fee-paying public parking spaces in Sharjah is approximately 57,000. He went on to say that these are monitored and checked by inspection teams from 8 am to 10 pm to catch any violations, such as parking without paying fees or booking more than one parking lot. Al Qaed also stated that the Municipality had closed 53 dirt yards since the beginning of 2022, owing to the distortion of the general appearance in several areas, despite the availability of a sufficient number of regular parking spaces. Sharjah City Municipality encourages residents to clean their vehicles, park them in designated parking spaces, and not abuse them. Every year, the Sharjah City Municipality makes significant efforts to provide new public parking zones to city residents and visitors to keep up with the Emirate of Sharjah's urban and population growth. The Municipality has annual plans to expand public parking zones and provide users with as many parking spaces as possible. BKM/ Expat Media
