There’s a new hangout for you to check out in Sharjah: a park that is designed for more than just walks. That idea comes to life in Al Majarrah Park, the emirate’s latest public space that blends sport, leisure and culture into one shared environment. Officially inaugurated on Tuesday (May 19) by Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, the park is located in the Al Majarrah area and is designed to feel less like a traditional park and more like an active extension of community life. At first glance, it delivers exactly what you would expect from a modern outdoor space. A running track winds through landscaped areas, while climbing nets, football and basketball courts, and skating zones create a constant sense of movement and energy. It is a place built for activity, where residents can shift easily from one form of recreation to another. But Al Majarrah Park is not only about motion. It is also about moments in between. Green spaces and water features break up the activity zones, offering quieter pockets for gathering, conversation or simply stepping away from the pace of the day. The design reflects a broader approach to public space in Sharjah, where parks are not just recreational facilities but social environments intended to encourage interaction, skill development and shared community experiences. It also connects to the wider vision of the Sharjah Art Foundation, which continues to integrate art into public life across the emirate.
