Sharjah apartment fire kills Pakistani father, daughter, injures 3 others
Members of a family who survived a deadly fire that killed a father and his daughter in their Sharjah apartment will be getting full support, according to the Pakistan Embassy. The incident happened in Sharjah’s Muwaileh area at 2am on Thursday (January 25), according to the Sharjah General Directorate of Civil Defence. The mother and two younger children survived. Firefighters said the fire broke out in the family’s third-floor apartment. Building residents were evacuated as smoke quickly spread in the whole building. Rescuers said the father, identified as Imran Khan, and his 11-year-old daughter, died of suffocation from the fumes. His wife, their 9-year-old daughter and 5-year-old son sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Al Qassimi Hospital. An investigation into the cause of the fire is still underway. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Consulate in General said it will extend full support to the family. “The officials from the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai are in contact with the company wherein the deceased Imran Khan was employed and we are ensure to extend our full support in this difficult times,” according to the Pakistan Consulate in a statement.
