Sharjah authorities are urging residents to avoid using their balconies for storage purposes after a recent fire broke out in an apartment building, caused by items stored on a balcony. The fire occurred in a residential apartment on the fourth floor of a building in the Al Nabba'a area and was quickly contained by the Sharjah Civil Defence teams, preventing injuries or further damage. The fire, which was reported to the Sharjah Police Operations Room on Saturday (August 31), originated from tools and equipment stored on the apartment’s balcony. Dense smoke was seen rising from the balcony, prompting an immediate response from civil defence vehicles, police patrols, and the National Ambulance. The fire was swiftly extinguished, and no injuries were reported. Following the incident, Sharjah Civil Defence emphasized the dangers of using balconies for storage, noting that such practices can create significant fire hazards. "Balconies should remain clear of flammable items and equipment to ensure the safety of all residents," the authority stated. The public is encouraged to adhere strictly to safety guidelines and report any fire incidents to the designated emergency numbers to safeguard lives and property. ICA/Expat Media
