The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has announced the construction of a 1.6-kilometer rubber walkway in Khorfakkan, under the directives of Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The walkway, averaging four meters in width, will circle Khorfakkan Hospital and pass through Al Bardi 6. It is designed to serve nearby residents and hospital visitors by providing a safe, high-quality environment for walking and jogging. SRTA emphasized that the walkway will be made of high-grade materials meeting standard specifications to ensure maximum user comfort. In collaboration with Khorfakkan Municipality and the Public Works Department, around 5,000 square meters of surrounding green spaces will also be landscaped with ornamental plants. “This project is a step forward in promoting a healthy lifestyle and upgrading infrastructure in the Eastern Region,” said a representative from SRTA. “It reflects our commitment to sustainable and pedestrian-friendly urban development.” The project forms part of a larger internal road development plan in Al Bardi 6, which includes pedestrian crossings to enhance traffic safety and accommodate growing urban development.
