The Hanging Gardens in Kalba, Sharjah. ARCHIVE

With the recent closure of the Hanging Gardens in Kalba, the ruler of Sharjah has ordered a project that many hope will speed up the reopening of the new tourist spot. Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the construction of a multi-storey parking at Hanging Gardens. The popular leisure spot was recently closed due to a large number of visitors. People have complained of limited parking space in the area, forcing motorists to park by the roadside and disrupting the flow of traffic in the area. The construction of a multi-storey parking facility at the end of the Hanging Gardens in Kalba has been proposed as a solution to the congestion issues that have arisen due to the popularity of the site. The building will comprise three or four floors with approximately 300 or 400 parking spaces, and will include an elevator to facilitate access for visitors who are unable to use the stairs.
