Did you know it is illegal to camp overnight or sleep in parks and public places in Sharjah? This is because the Sharjah Municipality wants to preserve public safety while also discouraging practices that distort the emirate’s aesthetics and greenery. Overnight camping in unauthorized areas is also not allowed in Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah, with police saying that “fines and stringent penalties” will be given to violators, and any tent, camp or caravan removed with immediate effect. Those who camp in unauthorised areas in Sharjah and Fujairah will be fined Dh2,000, and the fine is linked to the Ministry of Interior’s system.
