Sharjah has implemented new regulations imposing fees of up to Dh30,000 for releasing impounded vehicles, depending on the severity of the traffic violation. The Sharjah Executive Council announced the decision, aiming to deter reckless driving and enhance road safety. The highest fee, Dh30,000, applies to unlicensed two-wheelers and motorcycles on public roads. Other significant penalties include Dh20,000 for racing on public roads and Dh15,000 for causing damage to public or private property. Drivers caught exceeding 200 km/h face a Dh10,000 penalty, while overtaking on the hard shoulder or exceeding the speed limit by over 80 km/h incurs Dh5,000 fines.

Fees to release impounded vehicles based on violation:

• Unlicensed two-wheelers: Dh30,000 • Racing on public roads: Dh20,000 • Property damage: Dh15,000 • Driving at 200 km/h or more: Dh10,000 • Hard shoulder overtaking: Dh5,000 • Speeding by over 80 km/h: Dh5,000 • Failing to stop after a minor accident: Dh5,000 • Jumping a red light causing an accident: Dh5,000 • Loud/illegal vehicle modifications: Dh5,000 The decision applies to all vehicle types and aims to reinforce safe driving habits across Sharjah.
