By 2027, the Sharjah International Airport will be bigger and better after a massive expansion project worth Dh1.2 billion is completed. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, laid the foundation stone for the terminal expansion project on Wednesday (January 3). The terminal expansion project cover 190,000sqm and is the largest phase of a series of expansion projects with a total cost of Dh2.4 billion. Once completed, the expanded terminal will be able to serve 20 million passengers annually. It will also have more facilities, including a hotel for transit passengers. The expansion will separate the arrivals from the departures and renew the systems and facilities, and will also add more self-check-in machines, electronic boarding gates, waiting lounges and food courts.
