Police in Sharjah have arrested a motorist who ran over a woman and fled the scene. The suspect was arrested within 48 hours, police said. The incident happened on King Faisal Street and caused the victim serious injuries. Sharjah Police said it used tracking systems and smart cameras to quickly track down and arrest the suspect. Police have seized his vehicle. In the UAE, hit-and-run is considered a serious crime with a punishment of jail time or a minimum fine of Dh20,000. ICA/Expat Media
