If someone owes you money in Sharjah, there’s now a way to settle disputes without stepping foot in court. The Sharjah Police, through their innovative Al Solh Khair initiative, has announced that it helped return a total of Dh32.9 million to individuals involved in financial disputes. The program has resolved 874 cases in the last 12 months, proving to be a game-changer for those seeking justice without the delays and costs associated with legal proceedings. Brigadier General Yousef Obaid Bin Hurmoul, Deputy Director General of the General Administration of Comprehensive Police Stations, highlighted the program's role in promoting dialogue and mutual understanding. “Al Solh Khair is not just about resolving financial disputes. It’s about rebuilding trust, protecting rights, and reinforcing the bonds that hold our community together,” Brig. Bin Hurmoul said. For residents, the program offers a lifeline in cases of unpaid debts or financial disagreements. The initiative operates on principles of dialogue and cooperation, with police mediators facilitating discussions between parties. This approach ensures that disputes are resolved quickly, fairly, and without animosity. “We want people to see the police as partners in justice and reconciliation,” Brig. Bin Hurmoul explained. One of the program’s main goals is to avoid the financial and emotional strain that often accompanies court battles. Court cases can be time-consuming and expensive but Al Solh Khair offers a practical alternative, especially for disputes involving smaller amounts. The program also aligns with Sharjah Police’s broader mission of building a cohesive society. “We believe in creating a safe environment where justice is accessible to everyone,” said Brig. Bin Hurmoul. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the program by visiting their nearest police station to file a report.
