Sharjah Police have confiscated 140 vehicles, including 100 illegally modified cars and 40 motorbikes, in a major traffic operation across the emirate’s Central Region. Brigadier Khalifa Al Khasouni, Director of the Central Region Department, said fixed checkpoints and mobile patrols were deployed to catch violators during the campaign. “Such initiatives help enhance residents’ sense of security and reassurance,” he explained. Police said that unlicensed vehicle modifications—particularly those that amplify noise—pose a danger to road users and disrupt public comfort. Authorities reminded motorists that such practices not only violate traffic laws but also risk community safety. Drivers have been urged to comply with regulations and adopt responsible driving habits. “The public can help maintain safety and security by demonstrating awareness and commitment to improving the quality of life in the community,” police said in a statement.
