Sharjah police seize powerful synthetic drugs hidden in beauty products
Police in Sharjah have seized powerful new synthetic drugs hidden inside beauty products carried by a passenger arriving at Sharjah Airport. Forensic experts said the man-made cannabinoids are 100 times more powerful than cannabis. They were smuggled into the UAE inside bottles of skin serum. Colonel Adil Al Mazmi, deputy director of Sharjah Police’s Forensic Lab, said it is believed that the man-made drugs were developed by criminal gangs overseas. Synthetic cannabis, a mind-altering substance, can be made into liquid form to be used in e-cigarettes and other devices, and can also be dried or transformed into gas. Doctors say the drug causes rapid heart rate, hallucinations, high blood pressure, and even death due to overdose. Last year, Sharjah Police added to the UAE’s list of banned items four new types of Spice, a term commonly used for synthetic cannabis. For all the latest news from the UAE and the world, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and subscribe to our YouTube page
