 The Ruler of Sharjah has once again personally intervened in a sensitive case, this time ensuring that a mother and her children were not left homeless after being ordered to vacate their residence. Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, revealed the details during a telephone interview on the “Direct Line” programme broadcast by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The case involved a man who divorced his wife, sold the family’s home and another property, and then fled abroad. When the new homeowner demanded eviction, Sheikh Sultan stepped in. “We intervened and offered to buy the house from the new owner so the family could stay, but he refused. We then instructed the Department of Housing to provide the woman with a new fully equipped house with electricity, water, and furniture,” Sheikh Sultan said. He added that Interpol had been contacted to locate the children's father abroad. Sheikh Sultan also criticised the use of the word “compulsory” in court eviction orders. “How can it be ‘compulsory’ with children? Would you remove the children from their home in this way? This will never be allowed,” he said. The Sharjah Ruler reaffirmed that protecting people’s welfare remains his daily priority. “We intervene in the smallest details concerning people’s interests.
