The 41st Sharjah International Book Fair was officially inaugurated by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who also opened the Italian pavilion. Sheikh Sultan toured and learned about the Italian pavilion. According to Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, the Sharjah International Book Fair has surpassed all other international book fairs by becoming the world's largest exposition for purchasing and selling copyrights and translation rights for the second year in a row. The 12-day cultural extravaganza honors Italy as the Guest of Honour by hosting a galaxy of distinguished authors, intellectuals, publishers, artists, and creatives from 95 countries. The international book fair, organized by the Sharjah Book Authority (SBA), allows visitors to meet Booker Prize laureates, international screenwriters, and artists. It also allows visitors to explore countries worldwide through publishers' pavilions, a Cookery Station, and a diverse schedule of activities that includes musical performances, plays, and theatrical shows. SIBF 2022 will host 2,213 publishers this year, with 1,298 from the Arab region and 915 worldwide. The 41st edition will feature 123 breathtaking theatrical performances and musicals directed by 22 artists and performers from eight countries, six new programs, and over 30 activities directed by renowned Arab and international chefs.
